Club News - Castle Grounds Trails

February 2011

Trail Building kicks off despite the weather!

Despite the snow trail building started over the festive period on the Red graded Willowglen section of the Castle Grounds Trails. To build on the fine start made by Errol and myself with the bridge to nowhere built in 2008, Steve Errol, Joe, Beastie and Chris Harris got to work in earnest.

Chris booked a mini digger, which was put through its paces during the week, resulting in access to site being opened up to allow aggregate to be delivered. Three bridges were built in total, reflecting the top notch carpentry skills available to the club, with not a bent nail in sight!

Fine follow up drainage and burm building work by Beastie has now rendered the trail rideable form end to end.

Pete Laing will be visiting from Tuesday the 22nd of February to Friday the 25th, working with Chris and any volunteers to set targets and design obstacles etc. Therefore, it would be good to have a club ride on the Wednesday night to meet up and organise volunteers etc. Any time would suit me, but 5-6 pm would be good for most folk.

See you there
